Dr. Andy Pandian who is the faculty adviser for the SVSU ASQ Student Chapter will present on their activities and officers along with their efforts to boost student membership.

Dr. Andy Pandian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan, USA and Director of B.S. in Engineering Technology Management program. He earned his B.Eng. & M. Eng. Degree in Mech. Eng. from University of Madras, Chennai, India, and M.S. Degree in Mech. Eng. from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA and D. Eng., Degree in Manufacturing Systems from Lawrence Technological University, South field, MI, USA. He has wealth of advance manufacturing experience in automotive BIW tooling design and manufacturing having worked for Chrysler Corporation for more than 13 years.  He served as the ISO 9000 internal auditor for the Minivan Platform at Chrysler .  He has taught several mechanical and manufacturing engineering courses at University of Wisconsin-Stout and at SVSU. His research interests include 3D printing, Simulation, DOE, Robotics, Machine Vision,  ARMA and ANN.  He has presented/published more than 20 research articles/papers. He is a member of ASQ, ASEE, and IEOM. He is also the member of the editorial advisory board for the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management. He is also the paper reviewer for many International Journals.

Dr. Michael Hagan, Chief Quality Officer at Gift of Life Michigan

Dr. Hagan will visit us from Ann Arbor to present how “QI Tools and Methods Increase Organ Donation”.

He will present a nationwide quality improvement project that increased organ donation 10% for three years in a row, and then discuss two statewide projects that increased the number of organs transplanted in Michigan.

He will also share his personal story about his transplant, how he met his donor family, and how they were all on Good Morning America.

Mr. Sean Murray and a team of students will tell us about the Dow High School teams.  “The Charge, is a FIRST Robotics program and competition”.

They will bring their working team robot to demonstrate. The national FIRST Robotics competition theme for 2017 is “Steamworks.” FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, http://www.firstinspires.org/) is a National robotics competitions. The primary focus of the robotics team is to design, fabricate, construct, and test a large-scale robot for regional, state, and international competitions. The team brings together skills in areas of business, communications, fund raising, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and programming to effectively compete in the FIRST Robotics Competitions.
